In 2008, the City of Portland, per Administrative Rule ARB-FIR-2.08, established procedures for the inspection, testing, and certification of fire escapes.
These procedures are required:

Engineering Assessment with a Test Plan for Loading Testing with a City Building permit and Affidavit of Compliance

The City of Portland currently has more than 1,000 fire escapes that are attached to existing buildings and are part of the required emergency egress system or serve as firefighting platforms. We at BEC Restoration and our Team are here to make certification and engineering repairs a simple process by minimizing the challenges of obtaining and closing out a five-year certification permit of compliance.

Fire Escape Restoration Services
BEC Restoration provides you with an all-inclusive fire escape restoration, including the following:

Inspect for any safety concerns and repairs prior to beginning project.
Work hand in hand with Engineering company and load-testing company to support our customers needs. -
Prepare client proposal for the repairing, refurbishing, and permitting of project with details of work to be performed.

Upon signed proposal of additional services, BEC will submit permit application.

Work through Special Inspection checklists and additional inspections.

Enclose fire escape for containment of debris and public safety.

Conduct repairs of fire escape per engineering plans, including painting, welding, metal repairs, additional support and replace nuts and bolts with 316 stainless steel material.

Schedule and provide testing company with timing and approved BDS plans.

Finalize documentation process and final permit for closure of process with communications with client.
